Tencel presented the first application of its ecological, wood-based Lyocell fiber in shoes at the Techtextil fair in Frankfurt, indicating that it can be used in the sole or the upper to absorb moisture and ensure tenacity. The Austrian company said that several brands have already produced prototypes, but did not want to reveal the names except that of Legero. This Austrian brand of children's footwear is about to launch a line of “botanical shoes” in the market for the spring/summer 2016 season, in which the fiber is widely used. Legero had obtained a favorable response to a model where Lyocell was used in the laces.
