The Bata chain in France is going once more through bankruptcy proceedings. A court in Nanterre set March 9 as the deadline to receive bids for the acquisition of its remaining 72 stores. The chain was already downsized in connection with the previous insolvency of Bata France in November 2014, where a former manager of the chain, François La Ménahèze, took over 96 of the 136 stores previously operated by the group. His company, ABC Chaussures, took over the management of 72 of them and passed on the others to two French retailers of fashion products and sporting goods, Etam and the Go Sport Group.
