The battle over “ugg” is over. The dueling lawsuits between Deckers Outdoor and Emu Australia have been settled under confidential terms, and all actions will be dismissed. Last December, Deckers sued Emu, saying that the Australian company was infringing on its trademark by using the Ugg name. Emu countersued, arguing that in Australia and New Zealand, “ugg” is a generic word and more than 70 registered trademarks include it there.
