The Bread & Butter trade show, which opened on July 7 at the Tempelhof airport in Berlin, has become a shadow of its former self. About 200 companies exhibited at the show, most of them unknown labels with basic stands. Only few visitors found their way to the show, which comprises a street food area and three sections for start-ups, streetwear and urbanwear brands and a small collection of kidswear brands. Most of the other brands have migrated to other shows in Berlin, including Panorama, Premium or Bright. Zalando, the giant e-tailer based in Berlin, bought Bread & Butter a few weeks ago and plans to convert the trade show into an event for consumers. The contract with the city of Berlin for the use of the Tempelhof airport until 2019 was part of the deal between Zalando and Bread & Butter.
