The children’s footwear companies that support the German WMS system will have to change their lasts, starting with the Spring/Summer 2009 collections, following a decision to change its parameters. The measurement of more than 10,000 children’s feet, in collaboration with the University of Potsdam, has led the German Schuhinstitut (DSI) to enlarge the WMS sizes proposed for medium and large widths. The DSI will only charge shipment costs to change the measuring tools used by the retailers affiliated with the WMS system. A major media campaign will accompany the changeover.
