The communications chief at Justin Brands, Lisa Lankes, has been promoted to vice president for communications, licensing and social media. She has been with the company for 16 years and she has been responsible for placing Justin boots and other products in some hot films and for winning endorsements from country music artists and other celebrities. She is the first female senior officer in the 131-year-old maker of Western boots. Justin Brands got a lot of visibility in the media all over the world a few days ago as the Justin name was prominently displayed in the background of a podium where Warren Buffet, the American billionaire, played the guitar and sang country-western music during the annual meeting of his investment company, Berkshire Hathaway. The group owns or controls Justin Boots, H.H. Brown and some 15 other brands of footwear and accessories along with more than 50 other companies worth an estimated total of $63 billion. It reported a net profit of $3.6 billion in the first quarter of this year against a loss of $1.5 billion in the same period a year ago.
