The Danish Bestseller Group has agreed in principle to acquire a majority stake in Bianco Footwear, a Dutch-based group that has built up a network of more than 140 corporate and franchised stores in Scandinavia, the German-speaking countries, Poland and the Middle East. The stores sell only Bianco's private label collections. Bestseller plans to develop Bianco in the wholesale channel and through e-commerce. Bianco already has its own web store. The financial details of Bestseller's investment could not be learned. Reportedly, the parent company of Vero Moda and Jack & Jones is taking over mainly the shares of René Piper Laursen, who founded Bianco in 1987. Détale Meyer, the founder of the Street One chain of shoe shops in Germany, had acquired a 33 percent stake in Bianco in 2011.
