The executive committee of the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC) has selected the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) to organize its 21st Congress, to be held in China in 2021. The date and location have not yet been announced. First launched in 1972, the convention has been held only once before in China: in 2013, when it took place in the cities of Dongguan and Guangzhou. It draws brands, retailers and manufacturers from all over the world to discuss the state of affairs and future of the footwear industry. The first day will be devoted to visits to local companies. Speeches and other presentations will take up the following day and a half. According to Yves Morin, UITIC's president, the 2018 congress in Porto, Portugal, drew 540 delegates from 33 countries.
