The Federation of Spanish Footwear Industry (Fice), the Spanish National Association of Footwear Commerce (ANCC) and the Association of Footwear Merchants of Madrid (ACC) came together last month to request the immediate withdrawal of an ad campaign by PortAventura World. The company, which operates three theme parks near Barcelona, was running the ads for Black Friday. They asked, “Do you really need more shoes?” and implied that the money could be spent elsewhere. Naturally, the footwear associations pointed out that footwear is a major industry in Spain, which is Europe's number-two exporter.
