The first line of shoes under the Scorpion Bay brand name was one of the novelties at last month's Expo Riva Schuh show. Scorpion Bay is an Italian brand of surf-inspired clothing and accessories with numerous franchised stores in several countries. The five-year license for the development and production of its new footwear range has been assigned to Gabest, a company that was previously producing Barbie clothing. It has the same shareholders and some of the same management as Siport, the big Italian company that has the footwear license for Barbie, Fisher-Price and other brands and characters. While it is still strongly children-centered, it has been diversifying into adult territory lately.
