The French shoe market fell by 2.4 percent during the first 11 months of 2013, according to the French Fashion Institute, IFM. The biggest declines occurred in the shoe and apparel retail chains, including a drop of 5.5 percent for the latter. Independent shoe shops saw their sales fall by 0.1 percent. In contrast, sales of footwear by mail order catalog and over the internet went up by 6.1 percent.
