The inaugural edition of the Pan African Leather Fair (PALF) will take place at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre on June 21-23, 2020 – just after the inauguration of El-Roubiki Leather City, the tanning district that the government has been establishing on the outskirts of Cairo. The PALF aims to draw the industry's major players from Africa and the Middle East, but will also serve to connect local leather businesses moving to the new district with suppliers of raw materials, chemicals, machinery and services. The PALF's organizer, Informa Markets, holds similar trade fairs in Asia, such as APLF Leather in Hong Kong and the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) in Shanghai. According to the magazine Egypt Today, Mohamed Saeed el Assar, Egypt's Minister of State for Military Production, and Amr Nassar, its Minister of Industry, signed a contract on Oct. 10 covering the operation, management, maintenance and development of El-Roubiki Leather City.
