The Inditex Group has just launched an online store for its Zara brand, offering some of its shoes among other items, and H&M is expected to follow suit shortly. Initially, zara.com is available in Spain, France, Germany, the U.K., Italy and Portugal, and eventually it will expand to other markets such as the U.S., Japan and South Korea in 2011. Next year the service should hit South Korea, Japan and the U.S. The home décor division of Zara has been online since 2007. The brand already has more than 4.4 million fans on Facebook, creating a strong platform for its new e-commerce operation. Some have said that online sales of its fashion unit could hit €2 billion a year.
