The Indonesian Footwear Industry Development Center (BPIPI) has established the Indonesia Footwear Creative Competition (IFCC). The IFCC intends to promote footwear as a promising industry for young Indonesians casting about for a profession. It comprises three competitions. The footwear design competition is looking for innovative designs brought to life through collaboration with small and medium-size local manufacturers (SMEs). The photography and videography competitions have the same focus on SMEs but look at the marketing end of the business. According to the World Footwear Yearbook, Indonesia was the world's fourth-largest footwear producer in 2017, with 1.1 billion pairs, and the fourth-largest consumer market, with 886 million pairs. The company exported 217 million pairs in that year, or 1.5 percent of the world's total.
