The Industry and Trade Ministry of Vietnam says that in the first half of this year, the country exported $7.4 billion worth of products to the EU, 49 percent more than in the same period last year. The EU accounted for 17.5 percent of Vietnam's total exports. Footwear sold to the EU had a value of $940 million in the first five months of 2011, 16 percent more than in 2010, making up 40 percent of total footwear exports. The country hopes to reach a total export value of $12.3 billion to the EU for all of 2011.
