The Ivanka Trump brand has rejected charges of abuse relating to conditions at a Chinese factory, according to a report in Footwear News. Abigail Klem, president of the brand, has stated that its footwear licensee, Marc Fisher Footwear, has not worked with the Ganzhou Huajian International Shoe City Co. since March. Apart from producing Ivanka Trump's shoes, Marc Fisher makes footwear for Guess, Tommy Hilfiger and Kendall + Kylie. The factory, which is located in Jiangxi province, makes 20 million pairs of shoes a year, and 10,000 to 20,000 of these have been produced for the Ivanka Trump brand. The factory is under investigation by a New York-based organization, China Labor Watch, for alleged minimum-wage violations and demands for excessive hours of labor. Similar charges arose last October concerning another factory, the Xuankai Shoes Co. At the time, Marc Fisher Footwear called the reports erroneous, adding that the company had strict social compliance regulations.
