The next edition of Global Shoes, the sourcing fair organized by Messe Düsseldorf, will start on March 11, one day before the GDS. The organizers want to attract contract shoe manufacturers from Portugal and other European countries to the show, which is changing its name from Global Shoes to Tag it! from next July, as it seeks to focus more on the manufacture of private label footwear. The fair will continue to run parallel to the GDS with its move to earlier dates, starting one day earlier and running for four days instead of three. While the GDS will last for three days from July 30 to Aug. 1, and from Feb. 3 to 6, Tag it! will take place from July 29 to Aug. 1 and from Feb. 4 to 6. Talking about the show during the Couromoda fair in São Paulo, the show's dynamic director, Kirstin Deutelmoser, mentioned a study indicating that private label is likely to represent 50 percent of the European shoe retail trade's turnover in 2015, partly because of a need for higher margins to finance rising store rental costs.
