The number registered guests grew by 8.1 percent to 10,113 visitors at the 66th Expo Riva Schuh fair on June 10-13 in Riva del Garda. Only 38.8 percent of them were Italians. Among the other nations, the greatest amount of attendees came from Germany followed by Spain, France, the UK, Greece, Holland, Poland, Belgium and Hungary. Total attendance at Bread & Butter in Barcelona last July 5-7 grew by about 20 percent to 53,774 visits when compared with a year ago, when their number was estimated at 45,000. Visits from Spain and Portugal rose by roughly 26 percent to total more than about 18,000, based on data extrapolated from the organizers’ press release. While the number of Italian visitors dropped by an estimated 5 percent to roughly 9,900 passes through the turnstiles, all Central European countries apparently registered moderate increases, with the exception of Germany. There were about 900 apparel and footwear brands represented at the show, up from 700 at its first edition in the Spanish city in July 2005. Starting in January 2007 the fair will add two more halls for its new “Upstairs” format for luxury denim and high-end urban wear. In addition, the show is planning to add a new format for fashion designers to be staged elsewhere in the city.
