The Spanish shoe designer Manolo Blahnik has closed his only standalone store in New York, situated on West 54th Street, but it will have a new one at 717 Madison Avenue soon, according to Footwear News. The original store was opened in 1982 and Carrie Bradshaw, the main character of the Sex and the City television series claimed to have lived “a religious experience” buying stilettos there. The brand remains present in New York in some high-end department stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. As previously reported, Blahnik is taking over the distribution of its products in North America on Jan. 1.
