The Walking Company has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of Footworks, an 8-door chain in Las Vegas, for approximately $10 million as part of a broader expansion strategy that will focus on high-profile locations. Footworks is a division of Bianca, a privately-held shoe retailer in Nevada, USA, and its stores sell comfort shoes and accessories. They will be converted to the Walking Company banner. Big Dog acquired The Walking Company, which now has 74 stores, in bankruptcy court auction in Jan. 2004 for a combination of $15 million in cash, stock and assumed debt.
