The Wenzhou Shoes Industry Association signed a collaboration agreement with Messe Düsseldorf during the recent edition of Tagit!, the new sourcing fair organized at the same time as the GDS. The association brought a delegation of 80 firms to the show, representing the second-largest group from China after that of Fujian province. Officials of the association were set to visit Pirmasens as part of an effort to improve the quality of their production and relations with major brands. An increase in the production of leather shoes, which now represent about 35 percent of their turnover, helped Wenzhou's shoe manufacturers to book a 5 percent increase in value during the first six months of this year. Their turnover has been growing steadily over the past five years, reaching an estimated 1.8 billion yuan renmimbi (€218.13m-$292.43m) in 2013.
