Titan Industries, the California-based footwear company, has ended its licensing agreement with Bebe two and a half years before it was due to end, according to Footwear News. Joe Ouaknine, Titan's chief executive, said that he couldn't agree with Bebe executives about the creative direction of the line. Retailers who had already placed autumn orders will still receive their products. Separately, Ouaknine and his cousin Serge Abecassis, the CEO of Silver Dagger, have formed a joint venture called Prodigy Brands to produce men's shoes licensed under the Bugatchi Uomo brand. Prodigy will show off the first collection at the FFANY show this month. The fashion sneakers, dress shoes and casual footwear will be available at retail for spring 2013 and sell for $125-$275. Ouaknine will be in charge of product development and production, and Abecassis will oversee design, sales, warehousing and billing. The Prodigy venture is unrelated to Titan Industries.
