The 95th edition of Expo Riva Schuh and the 6th edition of Gardabags have been pushed back to July 18-20 “to enable the workers in this sector to get back together in person and in total safety.” The summer editions of the joint footwear and handbag trade shows, which are held at the exhibition center of the Italian town of Riva del Garda, was initially planned for June 13-15, but Europe is still in the throes of taming the Covid-19 pandemic.

Expo Riva Schuh is the leading international trade fair for the low and medium segments of the footwear market and is held twice a year usually in June and January.

”Given the way that the pandemic is going at global level, we consider it reasonable to reposition the traditional dates of the two physical events in July,” said Roberto Pellegrini, chairman of the organizer Riva del Garda Fierecongressi. ”The new timing of the events, together with the news of the reopening of exhibitions by the Italian government and the gradual improvement of the international situation, leaves us feeling hopeful that the context will be sufficiently favourable for us to organize our event,” he added.

Italy’s Industry Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti previously indicated that trade shows could resume in July after having been suspended due to the pandemic.

Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags will offer a virtual platform which will start on June 13 and run until Sept. 30 and work in synergy with the physical fair.

The next winter editions of the two shows are scheduled Jan. 16-18, 2022.
