Tunisia exported 13.5 percent more leathergoods and footwear in the first quarter of the year, reaching 471.5 million dinars (€245.6m-$314.8m). In the same period, the country imported 315.3 million dinars' worth. Germany, Italy and France are on the receiving end of about 91 percent of all of Tunisia's leather and shoe exports. The country's leather and shoe industry employs about 30,000 people.
