Unlimited Sports Group has signed a global licensing deal with Car Jeans, a Dutch brand of denim, to develop and sell a line of casual footwear under its label, which will be positioned in the medium segment of the market. The first styles should become available in January 2008. Unlimited Sports already has a license with Le Coq Sportif for the Benelux countries. It also has a license with Pantofola d’Oro for a line of young and sports-oriented footwear distributed in the Benelux countries, Austria and Germany. The company has a large sports retail business, consisting of 42 Perrysport stores and 145 Aktiesport stores, 20 of which are located in Belgium and Germany. In contrast with what we published in the last issue of Sporting Goods Intelligence Europe, this company is separate from Teamsport, another Dutch firm that holds the Umbro license for the Benelux countries, Austria and Germany, although there is some common ownership.
