Uwe Janzen was appointed to the new position of sales director for Europe and the Middle East at Pikolinos on Jan. 1. In the past eight years, Janzen worked in a similar position at Ecco. In his new role at Pikolinos, Janzen will be responsible for the development of Pikolinos' sales in Europe and the Middle East. Pikolinos' most important markets are Spain, the U.S. and Mexico. At the moment, all European markets are managed directly from Spain. The brand works together with sales agents in Scandinavia, the Benelux, the U.K., Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Italy and Greece. In the longer term, the distribution strategy in Europe will be revised. Pikolinos aims to open mono-brand stores in the main European cities in the next couple of years. In Rome and Brussels, mono-brand stores owned and managed by the brand were opened at the end of the last year, and they were followed by a store in Paris in January. In total, Pikolinos has 60 mono-brand stores in Europe, 40 of them in Spain and 90 percent managed by franchisees.
