Veja has announced a lawsuit against Primark for copying the design of its V 10 Extra White Nautico Pekin sneakers. The trademark of the V 10 shoe consists of the “V” on the upper area of the shoe, a rubber sole and insole, upper and panels in leather, the word “Veja” on the heel tab and a perforated vamp, among other elements. The Paris-based firm produces shoes with organic materials sourced locally, while the leather comes from a certified tannery. It offers an option for vegan leather, too. Primark sells its version of the sneakers for a fraction of the price of the Veja model, now at €125 on its web shop. Other models of the V 10 series sold at the same price online include the Extra White, the White Pekin Emeraude and the Leather Black White. At the beginning of 2019, Vans and its parent company, VF Corp., also sued Primark for trademark infringement, unfair competition and false advertising in relation to the Vans Old Skool and Vans Sk8-Hi models.
