Vietnam exported $33.4 billion worth of goods from January to April this year, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, up from $26.9 billion in the same period in 2011. Leather footwear and products made up $2.4 billion of the total, up from $2.1 billion last year. Broken down by category, leather shoe exports were worth $1.97 billion, up from $1.7 billion, and handbags, wallets, suitcases and umbrellas totaled $455 million, up from $381 million. In April alone, footwear exports rose by 0.42 percent to $478 million and other products rose by 5.69 percent to $123 million.
