Reaching the probable end of its slimming-down process, the French Vivarte group has confirmed the sale of its San Marina chain of shoe shops and of a logistics subsidiary, SMC Services, to two French entrepreneurs, Thierry Le Guénic and Stéphane Collaert, and an investment firm, Société d’Investissement Grimonprez (SIG). They had already taken over a couple of other assets from Vivarte, the Chevignon brand and the Cosmoparis chain of shoe stores. Taken over by Vivarte in 2000, San Marina sold more than one million pairs of shoes last year for a turnover of €105 million. At the end of the year, it had 218 stores in France and 12 in other countries, plus a web store. Founded in 1981, San Marina has started the new year with a new logo.
