While there is a recognized demand for food, water, medicine and money for the victims of hurricane Katrina, the U.S. National Shoe Retailers Association is preparing a second phase of donations. The NSRA will be accepting previously unworn shoes from its members to be distributed by church-operated disaster relief centers in Mississippi and Louisiana. Donations from other retailers and corporations can be made to Gifts in Kind and Kodiak-Terra. The NSRA has received more than 120,000 pairs of shoes from its members to be donated thus far (for information about how to donate or updates on this process, visit www.nsra.org).
