Workers at a facility making shoes for the Indian Bata Shoe Company reportedly went on strike because of pay. More than 250 workers are on strike from Foot Plus, the Kenyan outsource manufacturer, where local media reports say employees make about $1 a day. Female workers there have said they don't make enough to support their families. Union leaders in the leather industry have tried to talk directly with Bata to get the situation sorted out, but Bata says the issue is between the workers and Foot Plus.
