Zeis Excelsa has signed a five-year licensing agreement to use a well-known Italian footwear brand, Alberto Guardiani, for a line of sneakers that will come into the market in spring/summer 2020. Made in Portugal, Morocco and China, it is priced at €130-160 per pair at retail. The eponymous designer took over the rights to his own brand one year ago, together with a partner, after the liquidation of Nuova Centauro, the company that was running it. Its sales had gone down to about €12 million a year. Zeis has sold its own stake in Bikkembergs, but it still has a hot brand of sneakers, Cult, and others such as Docksteps, OXS, Sonora and Virtus Palestre. Together, they generate sales of about €30 million a year.
