Zeis Excelsa, the Italian shoemaker that bought Dirk Bikkembergs last year, is in talks to sell a minority stake of its capital, possibly around 20 percent, to the investment fund Fondo Italiano d'Investimento, in order to finance its future development. Zeis Excelsa, which is also the licensee of Merrell in Italy, among other operations, finished 2011 with sales of €139 million, and aims to increase revenues by 20 percent this year. The group plans to open 10 Bikkembergs stores this year to complement the existing network of 28 locations. The new openings include a 600-square-meter store in Barcelona in the second half of the year.
